Little Blessings

Lately saye selalu berurusan dengan bank bagi melangsaikan hutang-hutang yang dibayar melalui potongan gaji. saye kan da nak cuti tanpa gaji so kene la setelkan ape-ape yang patut. So minggu lepas saye call ke Ambank utk mengetahui jumlah sebenar baki pinjaman saye bagi tujuan full settlement. Terkejut sgt bile diberitahu bank tak boleh bagitahu melalui telefon sebab diorg xboleh pastikan org yang call tu adalah peminjam sebanar.Ya Allah, buatla verification. Tanye la no i/c, mother's maiden name, alamat, no hp etc.Mase tu saye terfikir, nak bayar hutang pun leceh! Saye dinasihatkan walk in to the nearest branch utk buat full settlement sb bile branch call baru diorg bgtau jumlah sebenar baki hutang saye tu.

Satu lagi tu loan kereta.

Ape la jenis PA kan yg bile org call susah nak jawab. PA bukan ke pttnye duduk je kat meja tu jwb call, amik pesanan utk boss kan?petang semalam baru saye dapat bercakap ngn PA tu. die jwb mcmni:"akak mcm penah tgk la surat awak ni.ye..ye..akak ingat sebab name awak ni unik.akak ade tgk surat tu.nanti akak call awak balik, akak nak cek jap surat tu kat mane." die janji nak call on the same day tp hampeh! Bile saye call, xde jawapan lg. So pagi-pagi tadi saye call lagi, masih xde berjawab gak telefon tu. saye da hangin saye call ke bahagian senarai hitam tu balik. lenguh gak la jari ni mendailkan, at last dpt gak saye berckp ngn org di bahagian tu. bole die kate selalunye bahagian ni lambat sket dpt dari pejabat ceo tu.saye ape lg, mulala tinggi suara.marah.die janji utk call semula, saye kate smlm PA tu janji nak call gak tp xcall pun.Tp lebih kurang 15 minit lepas tu PTPTN call dan bagitahu rayuan tu da diluluskan.PTPTN akan tarik balik name saye dari senaraihitam dan mereka akan deal terus dgn imigresen. saye mintak la surat rayuan saye tu dibalas supaya saye ade black and white document ttg kelulusan rayuan tu. bole die tanye saye utk ape?hangin lagi sekali kan?saye geram sgt dan saye kate kat die "da org bagi surat, kene la reply.saye nakkan black and white, kalo saye da kat airport nanti name saye xcelar lagi mcmane?kalo ade surat bole la saye tunjuk kat org imigresen tu.saye buat rayuan hantar surat, bukan saye call je." die jawab:"nanti saye tanye boss saye dulu,ye" ha...???

But...td saye dapat satu emel ni, yang menyejukkan sket hati saye ni.saye share kat sini k.

Subject: Private Sector Efficiency (or In-efficiency)

Dear Tan Sri KSN and Tan Sri Yong,

I refer to the Pemudah meeting of yesterday (23rd Feb).
You had raised several times the matter about the efficiency of the Government vs the Private Sector, relating examples of the Hair Saloon that you went to and also your architect.

DEAR TAN SRI, I WANT TO BUY INTO THIS IDEA OF YOURS.

Actually, I think you are SPOT-ON on this matter.
Part of the mediocre performance of our economy can be attributed to the lack of dynamism in the Private Sector as well, especially supporting industries like banking.

Please allow me a few moments to share an incident which I encountered after our Pemudah meeting yesterday which got me thinking on this.

I had an appointment with my bankers Maybank at 4.00pm so I went to meet them.

At the end of the meeting, about an hour later, we had a principal agreement on some facilities for our company and I asked them when we can get our letter of offer; The reply was THREE WEEKS.

I actually almost fell off my chair and told the Head of the Maybank Business Centre that our private sector is infact in-efficient.
He was actually a bit shocked and then I narrated your two stories to the Maybank Team at the meeting.
Then somehow it struck my mind and I told them that the government is actually getting more efficient than the private sector and this is why.

To get a letter from Maybank takes three weeks.

BUT

1. To get my passport it take 2 hours.
2. To get an expatriate pass take 7days.
3. I can check my application to Immigration online the same day.
4. Approval for the MM2H applications takes 2 weeks.
5. You can pay income tax online and get your refund in 30 days.
6. To get a company registered we now take three days.
7. From 01 March we can register our property in 2 days.
8. Online application of business licences.

What shocked me was after my small sales pitch about Pemudah, the Head of the Business Centre says " I wish you could speak to all my staff about all this"..... Eureka...... I thought this is what you have been talking about for so long and maybe its time now to take Pemudah to the next level or rather make a QUANTUM LEAP.

Dear Tan Sri's, I want to suggest that Pemudah now QUICKLY move into the Private Sector, especially areas where the government has some jurisdictions e.g. Banks, Insurance Companies, Hospitals, and the like. Dato Muhammad and Thomas from Bank Negara are very relevant people to engage in this subject.
They were quite extraordinary and inspiring.

I believe we can embark on this with a look at the banking sector. I am certain there can be drastic improvements, considering the kind of legal documentation that is required and the processes that are involved in Loan applications, approvals, disbursement, documentation, stamping. The complains of Micro Enterprises, SME, loan applicants can be a basis to see if the procedures need to be updated, just like what is being done with all the Ministries that we are engaged in. We can start with banking, send a signal to the private sector and then slowly move into new areas as we progress. This can be the new challenge of Pemudah. Very High hanging fruits. Why not ? BHAG.

SIR, FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION.

Best Regards

Pardip

Dear Dato’,
Sorry to respond so late: I was at Cabinet meeting!
2. Alhamdulillah. Thank God for the little blessings. If all of us were to do our little share...
